Two linked community-health initiatives address everyday risks in the villages around the plant: unsafe open wells, and unclean water sources.
After a safety audit of wells in nearby villages, IPL began building protective boundary walls and covers around wells that posed a risk to children and animals; the work is continuing until all identified wells are covered. In parallel, the company distributes bleaching powder for local wells and common water sources and runs awareness drives on water hygiene and disinfection.
- Safety audit of open wells across nearby villages
- Protective boundary walls and covers around high-risk wells
- Bleaching-powder distribution for wells and common water sources
- Awareness drives on water hygiene and disinfection
Together the measures reduce accidents around open wells, improve water quality and cut the spread of water-borne infection, building safer, more hygienic villages and greater community awareness of preventive health.
